Competing with a selection of other interesting and well-written films, this recognition serves as a testament to the uniqueness and creativity of the script. "Black Cat Meow" is a script that defies conventional genres, blending elements of dark comedy, satire, and farce to create a one-of-a-kind reading experience. At the center of the story is Dotti, an ordinary office worker whose world turns upside down when her beloved cat is snatched away by two wannabe actor/criminals, Ian and Anthony. Fueled by revenge and armed with an unconventional sense of honor, Dotti embarks on a relentless pursuit across an exaggerated, crime-ridden version of Los Angeles.
As a writer, it has been an incredible journey bringing "Black Cat Meow" to life. The script has evolved and grown, from a short to a feature, attempting to capture the essence of the absurdity and unpredictability that can exist within our everyday lives, toeing the line between drama and absurdist comedy. This festival provides a remarkable platform for me to share my vision with a wider audience and to celebrate the art of storytelling alongside fellow filmmakers.
On Sunday, June 25th, at 2pm, I am eagerly looking forward to discussing screenwriting and diving into the intricacies of creating a darkly comedic pseudo-farce like "Black Cat Meow."
